Periodontal pathologies are characterized by an osseous decline. Osteoporosis represent a risk factor for the progression of the periodontal disease and viceversa; it has been particularly seen that the progressive infection by periodontal microorganisms can reduce the osseous density, increasing the alveolar osseous reabsorbtion and therefore encouraging the bacterial proliferation. The progressive infection can therefore reduce the local and systemic osseous density with direct mechanisms (e.g. toxins) and/or indirect mechanisms (e.g. inflammation mediators).

Basing its work on these assumptions, IICRA srl is developing new formulations for supplements which are able to manage both the pathologies and their interactions.
